Must be a U.S. Citizen. Salary: $63,103 - $97,553 Annual. Closing Date: 12May 2004.
Frequent national and international travel required. Extensive public speaking required.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing is essential. Ability to use analytical methods to improve management programs and processes is necessary. Requires knowledge of public affairs principles, methods and techniques. Ability to meet and deal with others is essential, as is knowledge of concepts and methodology of events and exhibition planning.
Responsibilities
Detached duty from Office of Search and Rescue at USCG HQs. Manages the Amver program, a computer-based, global ship reporting system used by search & rescue authorities to to arrange for assistance to persons in distress at sea. Coordinate/evaluate public affairs and awards programs; media interviews; VIP visits. Liaison with media/ industry/government/diplomatic communities to promote voluntary participation in Amver. Analyze statistics and developments in communications/IT/international commerce for impact/potential improvement of the Amver system. Coordinate design of computer/communications technologies and applications with the USCG Operations Systems Center.
