Responsibilities
Our client, a major West Africa based shipyard provide facilities to repair vessels and off shore construction with expertise in ship repair, offshore fabrication, heavy industrial fabrication and warehousing and presently operate dry docks, floating docks and quayside facilities. They now seek a talented and seasoned General Manager – Offshore Construction in Nigeria.
The General Manager will be responsible for strong leadership to effect the day-to-day operations and continuously improve productivity of the organisation; you will lead, coordinate and manage the daily activities of the steel fabrication and construction facilities in conjunction with EPIC contractors. You will have overall responsibilities for workforce management issues, interface with energy majors and maritime clients and provide strategic management of the ship yard sustainability.
The ideal candidate must have a proven formalised training and experience in providing steel fabrication for major oil, gas and maritime clients, with proven man management skills in this sector. You must have ability to sell and market products and services to domestic and international customer base, you must have experience appropriate to improving productivity, quality, operator skills, service delivery, operational excellence, and profitability in a relevant SBU and must have a minimum of five years experience in operational management within an international recognised fabricator and must have proven experience in working in a third world location, preferably in Nigeria or West Africa.
