Qualifications
The successful candidate must be educated to degree level or HND; you must have knowledge and possibly contacts with ship owners, shipping agents and engineering firms. You must be familiar with accounting systems and be computer literate.
Responsibilities
Our client, a major West Africa based shipyard provide facilities to repair vessels and off shore construction with expertise in ship repair, offshore fabrication, heavy industrial fabrication and warehousing and presently operate dry docks, floating docks and quayside facilities. They now seek a talented and seasoned General Manager – Ship Building, Repair and Refurbishment in Nigeria.
The General Manager will be responsible for strong leadership to effect the day-to-day operations and continuously improve productivity of the ship yard, your remit is to lead, coordinate and manage the daily activities of the ship building and repair yard. You will overall responsibilities for workforce management issues, interface with clients and improve productivity, quality service delivery, operational excellence and profitability.
The ideal candidate must have experience in shipyard and or Rig Repair & Refurbishment sector, you will have proven leadership qualities and ability to control, manage and motivate excellence performance across a multi-cultural workforce and be familiar with ship repair and building engineering, equipments and tools appropriate to deliver outstanding quality and service and must have a minimum of five years experience in operational management within ship repair and build engineering and must have proven experience in working in a third world location, preferably in Nigeria or West Africa.
