Qualifications

College coursework in math, physics, or engineering required. Prefer marine engineering with multi-craft experience. Must have 8 - 10 years experience in maritime business. Requires ability to: read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, marine repair/shipyard professional journals; technical procedures, and government regulations; write reports, correspondence, procedure manuals; effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, customers, and employees; succeed in a diverse team environment; and define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Must have strong customer service and conflict resolution skills. Working knowledge of all Shipyard crafts and sequencing of activities necessary for effective ship repair.

Responsibilities

Duties include: review data to determine material and labor requirements and prepare itemized lists; compute cost factors and prepare estimates used for management purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work, preparing bids, selecting vendors or subcontractors, and determining cost effectiveness; conduct special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or effect cost reductions; consult with clients, vendors, or others to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
