Skills and Qualifications:

Education: 4-year Bachelors of Science degree in engineering, and a level of demonstrated achievements to carry out the above responsibilities.

Experience: 4 to 6 years of related work experience and in depth knowledge of ABS, IMO, DNV, ECDIS/ECDIS-N, and SOLAS regulations in both military and commercial environments.

Other: US Citizenship to obtain a security clearance.
Must be a US citizen.

Responsibilities

This senior system engineering position will be responsible for specifying the design of and/or specifying the procurement of state of the art computer-based marine navigation systems. Qualified candidates must have recent relevant experience with navigation systems including global positioning, electronic charts, voyage data recorders, autopilots, depth sounders, radars, and radar plotting equipments. Familiarity with the integration of software-based marine navigation systems with software-based shipboard control systems providing a fully integrated automated ship control system is a plus.
Responsibilities:

1. Develop Use Cases and derive requirements;

2. Perform work on the Navigation System design and integration. This includes simplifying ship specifications, defining and documenting interfaces, preparing validation and verification plans, and preparing integration plans;

3. Report individual project status including progress, pending issues, and work around periodically in accordance with approved schedules and established metrics;

4. Make technical decisions regarding system design and implementation;

5. Review, approve, release, and maintain system design documentation via company configuration control procedures.
