Responsibilities
Candidates with 3 – 5 years of experience at port operations, barge lines, container handling facilities, import/export operations, insurance carriers and or the Federal Maritime Trade Commission who are adept at analyzing and resolving complex hull and marine liability, ocean cargo, or inland marine insurance claim and coverage issues are needed for Craig’s Ocean Marine Subrogation Unit.
Craig employs a diverse group of seasoned professionals with various backgrounds and areas of expertise, including: attorneys, engineers, certified fire & explosion investigators and associates with AIC, CPCU, and AMIM/AIMU designations. Craig’s staff have specific ocean marine expertise with over 120 years of experience in ocean marine claims and recovery, consisting of individuals from Thyssen Krupp, St. Paul Companies, TNT Logistics, Kemper, Fireman’s Fund McGee, a former risk manager from Hapag Lloyd, a City of London marine lawyer and shipbroker.
Particular emphasis is placed on understanding and interpreting bill of ladings, receipts and other transport documents, surveyor reports, Seaman’s Rights and Remedies, and the applicable Carrier’s Liability Act to establish liability and develop the framework to perfect recovery. Marine Recovery Agent responsibilities encompass analyzing and investigating complex claim and coverage issues, preparing and organizing proof of loss documentation, negotiating with adverse parties, and managing litigation issues for Craig/is’ clients. Our clients have an established international presence in marine insurance underwriting and market a dynamic array of products and services to meet the demands of manufacturers, wholesalers, freight forwarders, vessel owners and operators, contractors, distributors, importers, exporters, banks and suppliers. These are in house positions that require the ability to plan and organize, work with detail, collaborate with others, follow prescribed file handling processes, excellent documentation and personal computing skills, in a fast-paced, results oriented environment. Professional accreditation/certification NAMS-CMS, SA or AMIM is desired but not required.
