Chevron Shipping Company is accepting online applications for the position of a Hull and Systems Engineer located in San Ramon, CA through April 14, 2008.

Overview:
This is a shore-based engineering/project management position in Chevron Shipping Company’s Marine Services Group. Located in San Ramon, CA, the position is open to both Chevron employees and outside applicants. The position provides engineering services for Chevron’s ocean-going vessels and other projects that have marine content. Vessels include crude oil tankers, petroleum products tankers, LPG&LNG tankers/FSOs, barges etc. The position requires occasional domestic and international travel, visits to ships and other offshore units, and eligibility to remain and work indefinitely in the United States. The ability to take occasional temporary international assignments is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

Key Job Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
• Provide design engineering services (specifications, tendering packages, technical evaluations etc) for tank vessels on new build construction, repair and conversion/modification projects.
• Investigate engineering problems with tank vessel systems with special emphasis on ship machinery/propulsion systems and equipment. Work with vessel management team, vessel operators, manufacturers, ship builders, regulatory community, and other industry experts to provide long term solutions and improvements.
• Provide project management and technical support for Chevron Shipping Company and other Chevron tank ship projects and marine terminals.
• Conduct feasibility studies and specifications in areas such as vessel performance, oil and gas transportation, tug and barge systems, new design concepts including economic evaluations and preparation of cost estimates.

Required (Basic) Qualifications:
• Bachelors Degree in Marine or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent from a Maritime Academy is required.
• Minimum of 5 yrs experience in shipping machinery engineering is required.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Sea going experience onboard ships in the engine/machinery area is preferred.
• Masters Degree is preferred.
