BMT Designers and Planners, Inc. (D&P) is seeking a full-time Senior Naval Architect or Marine Engineer interested in playing a key role on SAM team that provides project management technical support to the U.S. Coast Guard Deepwater Program in the Washington, D.C. area. Deepwater is the Coast Guard’s multi-billion dollar program that will replace over 90 cutters and 200 aircraft over the next 20+ years. This position involves the design and construction of a new Offshore Patrol Cutter, one of several new classes of vessels to be constructed or converted. The individual will provide direct technical consultancy and program management assistance to the USCG OPC Program Manager on-site at the Deepwater System Integration Project Office.
Responsibilities
Candidate must have minimum 10 years of ship preliminary, contract, and detail design experience, with a BS degree in Naval Architecture and/or Marine Engineering or related discipline if supplemented by marine experience. Project management, shipyard and ship production, and/or government ship acquisition experience are highly desirable. Familiarity with military or commercial ship design standards and the ship design process is required. The individual must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and must work well in an integrated product team environment. The position will involve regular but not continuous domestic travel.
