About the Position:
We seek a senior maritime who knows the ropes, an expert who can augment our pool of skilled, qualified and experienced maritime experts with future consideration as a fulltime expert and leader within the firm. The expert will provide investigation, analysis, reports and testimony where technical and scientific answers are needed to help resolve both civil and criminal litigation, and insurance claims. Areas of potential litigation involve land-based operations, including vessel and boat operations and personnel, cargo and insurers, facilities, piers, shipyards, marinas, transportation, rules and codes compliance, security, safety, and licensure. Casualties cover the gamut from collisions, fires, explosions, personal injuries, industrial accidents, product failure, and pollution.
Requirements of the Qualified Candidate:
• degreed professional with 20-25 years hands-on experience
• licensed as Captain or Chief
• P.E. preferred
• able to work as a part of a comprehensive team
• excellent analytical skills
• excellent writing and communication skills
• able to communicate and teach highly technical information to lay people (client and jury), at ease with providing technical support for litigation and claims
• computer literate (Microsoft word processing, spreadsheet; specific discipline programs)
