Our client is one of the world-leading private developers of transportation infrastructures with offices in Europe and the Americas is looking for incorporating a Civil Engineer in their office in Austin or Chicago. This position is to join the Technical Department of the Company.
<p>
Basic Professional Profile:<p>
- MS (Master of Science) with emphasis on Transportation Engineering.<p>
- Ten years experience working in Highway Design and/or Construction and/or Construction Monitoring and Supervision.<p>
- Good teamwork skills required.<p>
- Proactive working attitude required.<p>
- Available to travel within the US.<p>
- Proficiency with Excel<p>
To be valued:<p>
- Experience with Construction Works as Designer or Quality Control Manager and as Highway Construction Manager.<p>
- Experience with quantity takeoff review and pricing during tender processes.<p>
- Other abilities including knowledge of advanced software used for the design of structures and/or analysis of pavement.<p>

Duties:<p>
Our client is a long term investor in concessions of transport infrastructure and its main objective is to provide the users with the most advantageous and efficient equipment and facilities. To that end, the construction of these infrastructures has to be monitored and controlled under the most demanding standards.<p>
As part of the Technical Department, the selected candidate will be responsible for design and construction related topics. The selected candidate will directly depend of the D&C Technical Director of Toll Highway developments. Duties will include assistance to preparation of Project Proposals answering to procurement processes and assistance to existing concessions.<p>

Provide support to technical aspects of the Project Proposals:<p>
? Highway design and quantity takeoff review<p>
? Highway life cycle analysis<p>

Help select, coordinate, supervise and direct external technical consultants during the preparation of Project Proposals. External technical consultants will be involved in technical design aspects of the proposals and when applicable, assessment of existing sections as part of the Concession Contract.<p>

Supervise and review documentation produced by technical consultants with the purpose of preparing submission documents relevant to the procurement processes.<p>

Monitor third parties design verifying coherence between construction efficiency and Concessionaire’s technical requirements.

Review of construction price based on market benchmarking and/or specific unit pricing .
<p>
Participate in meetings with Contractors to define main scope of works and possible alternatives, procurement processes, both at the proposal and later detailed design stage.
<p>
Define technical aspects of contractual framework (time schedule, technical standards to be complied with, minimum testing to be developed by the Contractor, quality records, etc), specially when a lump sum is required.
<p>
Define the scope of works for an external technical assistance during construction period which will help the Construction Manager of the Concession to supervise the Construction Contract.
<p>
Active involvement in the projects from the very early stages until the final commissioning of works.
<p>
Active role in assisting Technical Managers of Concessions to develop most cost-effective program regarding major maintenance and renewals of existing assets during Concession period
<p>
Constant assistance to Concessions at every issue which implies design and/or construction, recovering previous experiences within the company highway portfolio.
