Qualifications
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Information System preferred.
WORK EXPERIENCE: 3-5 years experience in mainframe programming. Experience must include installation, maintenance and modification of MVS internals. Experience with the version of MVS software and hardware (CMOS) currently installed at Crowley necessary. Experience with user exits, complex program products such as CA-1, CA-7, COBOL and CA-VIEW. TSO, JCL, COBOL, Assembler, IPCS, SMP/E are essential. Strong problem determination and dump analysis mandatory. CICS, DB2 and RACF a plus. Alternative platform experience. PC, NT, UNIX a plus.
SKILL AND KNOWLEDGE LEVEL: The skills of mainframe system programmer are required. Moderately complex project management skills are mandatory.
Responsibilities
Installs, modifies, and maintains MVS operating system software and support program products. Competent to work on most phases of systems programming and requires only general direction for the balance of the activities. Provides consulting services to application developers in the areas of application design, efficiency, security and problem determination.
