Qualifications

Knowledge Requirements
· Naval Architectural/Marine Engineering degree required; P.E. license is preferred
· Knowledge of ABS, DNV, USN, and USCG regulatory requirements as necessary for the design, construction, repair, and modification of medium sized commercial and military vessels.
· Knowledge of ship repair and fabrication methods, shop practices, industry standards, cost estimating, customer requirements and general business practices.
· Knowledge of marine operations in general with detailed knowledge of tug and barge operations as required to allow intelligent and constructive interface with all aspects of marine operations and commercial customers.


Skills & Abilities
· Provide workable and cost effective solutions to various marine engineering, production, and project management problems.
· Able to communicate effectively, both in written and oral form, across all levels of management, employees, customers, vendor and regulatory/government agencies.
· Provide both leadership and team member skills.
· Ability to proficiently use personal computers.
· Able to use sound engineering judgment and marine industry experience to professionally manage various projects simultaneously.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

· Provide professional marine engineering analysis and other technical and operational consultation and assistance to management and production teams of Foss Shipyard, commercial customers and other divisions of Foss Maritime Company.
· Contribute marine engineering management, detailed design, and engineering analysis to various project specific, outsourced engineering efforts.
· Implement a formal project management approach to managing specific jobs as directed by the Shipyard Manager.
· Assume duties and responsibilities of Ship Superintendent as required.
