Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
 USCG license: Third Mate – Unlimited license
Or – 1600 Ton near coastal license with 3000 Ton STCW Certificate
 Radar endorsement
 STCW 95 requirements
 Marine Radio Operator’s License including GMDSS Certificate
 The applicant should be educated, well-spoken, and posses the social skills that would be required on a passenger ship.
Responsibilities
Job Description:
 Stand watch at sea
 Preparation of voyage plans
 Act as Training Officer on board
 Maintain charts and publications
 Act as ships Security Officer
 Operate small boats during tender operations
 Supervising deck crew under direction of the Chief Officer
 Maintaining various logs in accordance with USCG/ISM/SOLAS requirements
 Perform other duties as the Master may direct
 Social skills required to work on a passenger vessel
Rotation and Compensation:
 All Deck Officers work “Two months on/One month off” rotation
 Officers rotate between the Nantucket Clipper and Yorktown Clipper
