Qualifications
Profile:
· A relevant engineering degree, preferably Masters Degree, and a minimum of 10 years related experience with at least 5 years in the engineering of offshore or sub-sea mechanical equipment.
· Experience in the design, specification, manufacture and testing of heavy mechanical systems.
· Experience in specifying materials, welding, and machining.
· Familiar with offshore and mechanical design standards and codes.
· Experience with design, assembly and testing of hydraulic systems
· Experience in working as part of a design team.
· Capable of performing required design calculations and preparing documentation.
· Must be capable of occasionally supervising manufacturing and of assisting at fabrication and offshore sites with equipment installation, commissioning or maintenance.
· Experience with the design of mechanical bearing systems, sub-sea equipment, or rotating equipment may be appropriate.
Responsibilities
These positions are open in the Discipline Engineering Group of SBM-IMODCO. Two mechanical engineers are needed.
The first Mechanical Engineer will perform the design of custom mechanical equipment. His scope will encompass conceptual design, design and supervision of detail and machining fabrication drawings, specifications and calculations related to all the system. Typical systems to be designed will include heavy roller bearing and friction bearings, mechanical articulations, specialized installation equipment, hydraulically actuated mechanisms, and fluid swivels.
The second Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the conceptual and detailed design of systems and for the specification of components to be purchased for those systems. He may also be responsible for supervising the manufacture and testing of the systems. Typical systems may include structural and piping mechanical connectors, winches, chain jacks, swiveling fairleads, hydraulic power units, basic hydraulic systems, mechanical drive systems, and material handling systems.
The positions requires hands on experience with full knowledge of relevant design codes, state of the art calculation tools, and also requires involvement in and performing detailed work.
