Qualifications

High School Graduation or equivalency certification is required. Certifications appropriate to the job (i.e., United States Coast Guard) are required.
EXPERIENCE:A total of at least five (5) years experience in the operation and maintenance of multiple source-split loads single and three-phase AC and DC shipboard electrical systems aboard a craft. Qualified to the same experience level of a USN or USCG Electrician First Class or should have a U.S. Merchant Marine Document QMED or higher rating and electricians endorsements.At least two (2) years of the foregoing total experience shall have been performed within the marine industry utilizing US Coast Guard and ABS electrical specifications and standards.

Responsibilities

Performs a variety of electrical trade functions such as the installation, maintenance, or repair of equipment for the generation, distribution, or utilization of electric energy aboard military and commercial vessels.Work involves most of the following.Installing or repairing any of a variety of electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, or other transmission equipment.Working from blueprints, drawings, layouts or other specifications.Locating and diagnosing trouble in the electrical system or equipment.Computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment§ Using a variety of electrician’s hand tools, measuring and testing instruments.
