Telaurus, headquartered in Cedar Knolls, New Jersey, was founded in 1999 by three experienced mariners and business professionals who knew that there had to be a better way of communicating from ship to shore than the solutions existing at that time. Starting with a clean sheet of paper, they designed the basis of a revolutionary new system that would provide ships and their crews a completely flexible, but easy to use answer to their communication requirements. Their next step was to assemble a team of top rated software developers to translate their ideas into reality. To accomplish this reality, Telaurus established a state of the art research and development center in Munich, Germany, one of the world’s leading technology centers in the heart of Europe. Shortly thereafter, Telaurus was accepted as an Iridium and Inmarsat development partner as well as an Inmarsat Service Provider (ISP) and has introduced the worlds first (and currently the only) kilobit priced data service for Iridium and Mini-M alike.
Today, Telaurus has created, deployed and now operates a secure and flexible global maritime communications network that provides everyone, from the shipping company to the captain and to the crew, the same communications reliability, ease of use and cost-effective service, whether at sea or on land. Telaurus has seamlessly integrated proven, reliable technology with innovative software that has been specifically designed and tested around the maritime user's real-world needs and environment. The Telaurus Global NetworkTM and se@COMMSM family of communications software integrates multiple communications paths, utilizing multiple satellite and wireless networks to deliver voice and data communications to and from vessels with unprecedented reliability and unparalleled simplicity.
In just three years Telaurus has grown to 26 employees, including a 24 hour, 365 day, Customer Support team and, in addition to its Headquarters in the USA, has offices in the UK (2), Athens and Munich.
