Overview
Sri Lanka, an island nation, has four commercial ports, Colombo, Galle, Trincomalee and Kankasanthurai. These ports are managed by the Sri Lanka Ports Authority. The sea ports in Sri Lanka form the gateways, linking seaborne traffic to road and rail transport and vice versa. Being strategically situated, the port of Colombo forms a base for transhipment activities.
