Sri Lanka Ports Authority - Port of Columbo

Sri Lanka, an island nation, has four commercial ports, Colombo, Galle, Trincomalee and Kankasanthurai. These ports are managed by the Sri Lanka Ports Authority. The sea ports in Sri Lanka form the gateways, linking seaborne traffic to road and rail transport and vice versa. Being strategically situated, the port of Colombo forms a base for transhipment activities.

The Port of Colombo has now developed into one of the best ports in Asia handling both conventional cargo and containers. In fact Port of Colombo has been acknowledged as one of the most economical ports in the region.
