Overview
The Humboldt Bay Harbor, Recreation and Conservation District is responsible for the wide-ranging management needs of the Port of Humboldt Bay and the smaller fishing ports to the north and south. Since the Humboldt Bay Harbor, Recreation and Conservation Act was created in 1970 by an act of California's legislature, the District's focus has been on everything from erosion control to recreation and aquaculture to commercial fishing. In addition, the District also functions as the Port Authority for the Port of Humboldt Bay and operates Humboldt County's largest marina, Woodley Island Marina. Working with many other agencies, the District serves the natural health of the Bay, its commercial future, and recreation on the North Coast.
