CII TO HONOR TWO SHIPPERS AT DINNER

Chicago, IL (Jan 18, 2011)- Rick Gabrielson, Director of International Transportation for Target Corporation, and George Schember, Vice President, Corporate Transportation and Logistics for Cargill, Inc., have been named recipients of the first Connie Awards to be given in the U.S. Midwest by the Containerization & Intermodal Institute. The dinner will be held April 6, 2011 at the Marriott O'Hare. The Chicago-based event is in addition to the annual Connie Awards in the New York area since 1972 and in Long Beach, CA since 2009.

"This is certainly the year of the importer and exporter," said Allen Clifford, CII President. "We had many requests that people in the Midwest wanted to attend a Connie event but travel budgets were being reduced. When the nominations were counted and votes taken, Rick and George emerged as this year's awardees. We are all pleased and proud."

Each recipient is being honored for his significant influence in containerization in worldwide trade and transportation, according Mr. Clifford. "Both of these recipients have had eclectic careers in international trade and transport and represent the most important segment of our industry-the shipper. Seating is limited and we expect sell-out crowds at all of our Connie events," said Mr. Clifford.

Mr. Gabrielson's responsibilities include the management and movement of all imported product for Target Stores, Target.com and Target Commercial Interiors.

He also is in charge of negotiation and management of all overseas consolidation operations, all ocean carrier contracts and relationships, port operations, and deconsolidation operations with third party providers.

He also serves as President of the Coalition for Responsible Transportation and is the Vice Chairman of the Marine Transportation System Advisory Council (MTSNAC). Mr. Schember's was appointed to his present position in 2009. His responsibilities include all rail, truck and intermodal freight for Cargill. He is also in charge of the Global Container Group, and Cargill's Warehouse and Terminal Group. He is a member of Cargill's Agricultural Supply Chain Platform.

He joined Cargill as a commodity merchant in 1984 and has held roles in Cargill's Flour Milling, Worldwide Dry Milling and North American Grain and Oilseeds businesses. In 2005 he was named vice president of Horizon Milling, LLC. responsible for Horizon Milling operations, merchandising, supply chain, and customer service activities and overseeing the Goertzen Seed Research business. In 2007, he was named to lead Cargill North American Transportation.

He is the former chairman of the Wheat Quality Council and was a member of the Minneapolis Grain Exchange. George graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Saint Thomas, Saint Paul, MN, with a bachelor's degree in Business.

In addition to the Connie Awards, CII will carry out its industry education mission by presenting scholarships to supply chain management students attending Northwestern University. Any company can sponsor a named scholarship through CII, which has had more than half a million dollars given for higher education under its auspices since 1992.
