Seattle, Washington, January 25, 2011 – BlueView Technologies
has been awarded funding from RPSEA (Research Partnership to Secure Energy for
America) and is partnered with Chevron’s Energy Technology Company to test
acoustic imaging and measurement systems that improve underwater metrology,
accelerate installations, enhance inspection capability to ensure flow, and
reduce downtime or shut-in with detailed structure assessments. BlueView will
increase the fidelity of engineering information by providing detailed
measurements, leak detection, and detection of degraded pipeline insulation in
ultra-deepwater (>15,000). The new inspection capabilities can improve
operating efficiency, reduce time and costs, minimize reworks, and improve
safety and environmental performance by providing data to enable proactive
maintenance and repair activities.

BlueView was selected in June 2010 under the Ultra-Deepwater and
Unconventional Natural Gas and other Petroleum Resources Program administered by
RPSEA. ―It is an exciting time at BlueView as we are underway in developing some
ground-breaking deepwater capabilities‖ stated Lee Thompson, BlueView
Technologies CEO/CTO, ―Our partnership with Chevron is a key part of us helping
to improve deepwater operations for the entire industry.‖

Funding for the projects is provided through the ―Ultra-Deepwater and
Unconventional Natural Gas and Other Petroleum Resources Research and
Development Program‖ authorized by the Energy Policy Act of 2005. This
program—funded from lease bonuses and royalties paid by industry to produce oil
and gas on federal lands—is specifically designed to increase supply and reduce
costs to consumers while enhancing the global leadership position of the United
States in energy technology through the development of domestic intellectual
capital. RPSEA is under contract with the U.S. Department of Energy’s National
Energy Technology Laboratory to administer several elements of the program.
RPSEA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit consortium with more than 180 members, including
22 of the nation's premier research universities, six national laboratories,
other major research institutions, large and small energy producers and energy
consumers. The mission of RPSEA, headquartered in Sugar Land, Texas, is to
provide a stewardship role in ensuring the focused research, development and
deployment of safe and environmentally responsible technology that can
effectively deliver hydrocarbons from domestic resources to the citizens of the
United States. Additional information can be found at www.rpsea.org.

BlueView is the leader in 2D imaging and 3D scanning sonar technology with
more than 500 installed systems worldwide. BlueView Technologies’ advanced sonar
systems are currently deployed on AUVs, ROVs, surface vessels, fixed positions,
and portable platforms, and have been adopted by leading manufacturers and
service providers to support mission critical operations. BlueView customers
enjoy a low cost of ownership with reliable operation, exceptional service,
in-person training, extensive online information, and worldwide after-sale
support.
