Star Bulk Carriers Corp. (the "Company" or "Star Bulk") (Nasdaq: SBLK), a global
shipping company focusing on the transportation of dry bulk cargoes, today
announced that Mr. Petros Pappas, Chairman of the board of directors of the
Company, transferred all of the common shares of the Company that he
beneficially owned to his two children for estate planning purposes. Ms. Milena
Pappas, a Class B director of the Company and the daughter of Mr. Petros Pappas,
and Mr. Alexandros Pappas, the son of Mr. Petros Pappas, each received 3,008,636
restricted common shares representing approximately 3.7% of the Company's
outstanding common shares. &nbsp;</DIV>

<DIV>Mr. Petros Pappas plans to file an amended Schedule 13G with the Securities
and Exchange Commission to report that he no longer beneficially owns any common
