GROUP URS-COWI GARNERS HIGHEST SCORE FOR TECHNICAL AND PRICE SUBMISSIONS
PANAMA CITY, Panama, February 22, 2010 – The Panama Canal Authority (ACP) determined the “best value” proposal for the permanent vehicular crossing on the Atlantic side of the Panama Canal last Thursday. Group URS-COWI garnered the highest points for its combined technical and price scores. The new vehicular crossing will allow uninterrupted ground transportation to cross the Panama Canal on the Atlantic side via a bridge or tunnel.
The ACP Contracting Officer will now examine and validate the “best value” price proposal and will also verify the contractor’s qualifications pursuant to the established ACP contracting regulations prior to awarding the contract. Once the contract is awarded and the order to proceed is issued, URS-COWI will have 240 days to submit its final plans and determine if the crossing should be a bridge or a tunnel.
