NORTH AMERICAN OPERATIONS Titanium production begins in Henderson, Nevada. Rutile ore, mined from the black sand beaches of Australia, is converted to titanium sponge using the world's most modern processes. Owning our plant assures a low cost supply of the best quality sponge, which is then mixed with alloying elements and melted into ingots. Together, our sponge and melting operations represent the largest integrated titanium production capability in the world. The Henderson plant also houses the industry's most extensive research and development laboratory. Ingots are shipped to Toronto, Ohio, where they are forged into slabs, billets and bars which meet the world's highest quality standards. Slab is then processed into a variety of mill products including sheet, plate, coil, strip and pipe. EUROPEAN OPERATIONS TIMET is the largest titanium producer in Europe, specializing in melting and forging premium grade billet, bar and fan blade plate for jet engines. In Witton, UK, we melt raw materials, including sponge, into ingot that is forged into billet and slab, to be further processed at our facility in Wales for aerospace uses. We also fabricate wire. There is a world recognized research and development laboratory at Witton that complements the facility in Henderson. Our plant in Waunarlwydd, Wales is one of the world's major suppliers of titanium bar for jet engine blades and medical applications and also produces both tapered and rectangular fan blade plate. In Ugine, France we melt ingot, forge billet and produce bar and rod for aerospace applications. France is also headquarters to VALTIMET, a TIMET joint venture company which produces welded tubing. SERVICE CENTERS TIMET's distribution network spans the world, with a focus on the largest titanium markets. Our eight warehouses in Europe and the US stock the world's largest off-the-shelf titanium inventory, and offer just-in-time delivery, a selection of value-added services and complete titanium expertise.
