Airchime was founded in 1929, at Vancouver, British Columbia, as a proprietorship with its principal emphasis being the manufacture of steam whistles for locomotives, ships, and factories. In 1948, the founder of the company invented and patented the first air horns which faithfully duplicated the sound of traditional steam locomotive whistles. This was necessitated due to the advent of the diesel locomotive. Airchime was incorporated in 1954. The company’s head office is located at Langley, British Columbia, Canada. The company owns and operates out of a 12,250 sq. ft facility constructed in 1996. Airchime products are also manufactured by licensees in the United States of America and Great Britain.
