The plaintiff attorneys in the U.S. along with a small portion of medical providers have been working together to escalate medical damages related to maritime accident claims. The Federal Jones Act and The Federal Long Shore Act does not limit liability awards on maritime claims and therefore it has become an arena for fraud and abuse. The maritime industry can defend against these claims with the proper use of medical cost containment services.
