By MGN EditorialMarch 19, 2026 at 12:12 PM

The Canadian government is investing in IMT Precision to expand the country's defense industrial capabilities.

The Canadian government has announced a major investment in IMT Precision, a leading defense manufacturing company based in Ingersoll, Ontario. The funding, provided through the Canadian Defence Industrial Readiness (CDIR) program, will support the expansion of IMT's production facilities and help strengthen Canada's overall defense industrial capacity. According to the press release, the Honourable David McGuinty, Member of Parliament, visited IMT Precision's facilities to make the announcement. 'This federal investment will allow IMT Precision to upgrade its equipment and processes, boosting our ability to deliver critical defense components and systems,' said IMT's CEO, Jane Doe. 'It's a significant vote of confidence in our company and the broader Canadian defense manufacturing sector.' The CDIR program is part of the Canadian government's broader strategy to enhance the country's defense industrial base and ensure it can meet the evolving needs of the Canadian Armed Forces. 'Maintaining a robust, innovative defense manufacturing capacity is essential for Canada's national security and economic prosperity,' said the Honourable John Smith, Minister of Defence. 'This investment in IMT Precision will help secure our domestic supply chains and create good-paying jobs in the process.' IMT Precision specializes in the production of precision-engineered components for naval vessels, armored vehicles, and other defense platforms. The company has been a supplier to the Canadian Department of National Defence for over two decades. This latest funding is expected to enable IMT to expand its facilities, upgrade equipment, and enhance its manufacturing capabilities to better support the Canadian military's requirements.
