DeepOcean and TFKable to Form Joint Venture Targeting Offshore Wind Inter-Array Cable Market
By MGN Editorial•September 23, 2026 at 09:41 AM
Subsea services firm DeepOcean and cable manufacturer TFKable Group are planning to establish a joint venture focused on inter-array cable installation projects, backed by a dedicated installation vessel.
Subsea services provider DeepOcean and the controlling entity of TFKable Group have announced plans to form a joint venture targeting the growing offshore wind inter-array cable installation market, according to Offshore Energy.
The partnership would combine DeepOcean's established subsea installation and marine operations expertise with TFKable's cable manufacturing capabilities, positioning the new entity as an integrated solutions provider for offshore wind developers. Central to the venture is the deployment of a dedicated cable installation vessel, underscoring the partners' commitment to building a purpose-built operational capability rather than relying on spot-chartered tonnage.
The announcement reflects intensifying competition — and opportunity — in the offshore wind supply chain as developers race to meet ambitious renewable energy targets across Europe and beyond. Inter-array cables, which connect individual wind turbines within a farm to a central substation, represent a critical and technically demanding component of any offshore wind project. Demand for specialist installation capacity has grown sharply in line with the expansion of larger, deeper-water wind farms requiring longer and more complex cable runs.
By vertically integrating cable supply with marine installation services under a single joint venture structure, DeepOcean and TFKable aim to offer developers greater schedule certainty, streamlined contracting, and potentially improved cost efficiency — factors that have become increasingly important as the offshore wind sector grapples with supply chain bottlenecks and project delays.
DeepOcean, headquartered in Norway, has an extensive track record in subsea inspection, maintenance, and repair as well as offshore renewables installation work. TFKable Group is a major European cable manufacturer with significant experience supplying power cables to the energy sector.
Further details on the vessel specification, the venture's ownership structure, and its initial project pipeline are expected to be disclosed as the partnership progresses toward formal establishment. The move signals continued consolidation and strategic alliance-building within the offshore wind installation sector as the energy transition drives sustained long-term demand.
