## Golar LNG Eyes Third FLNG Conversion at Singapore's Seatrium Shipyard Golar LNG is advancing plans for a third floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) vessel conversion, with the company signing a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Singapore's Seatrium shipyard to finalise an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract, according to Seatrade Maritime. The LOI marks a significant step forward in what would be Golar's continued expansion of its FLNG fleet, deepening an established relationship between the Norwegian LNG specialist and the Singapore-based shipyard. Seatrium has previously carried out FLNG conversion work for Golar, making it a trusted partner for the technically complex projects. FLNG vessels are converted from LNG carriers and serve as offshore facilities capable of processing, liquefying, and storing natural gas extracted directly from subsea fields. The technology allows operators to monetise stranded or remote gas reserves that would otherwise be uneconomical to develop via traditional onshore infrastructure. Golar LNG has been a pioneer in the FLNG sector. Its first conversion, the *Hilli Episeyo*, has been operational offshore Cameroon since 2018, while its second vessel, the *Gimi*, is currently being deployed under a long-term contract with BP for the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim LNG project on the Mauritania-Senegal maritime border. A third conversion would further cement Golar's position as a leading independent FLNG operator at a time when global demand for flexible, fast-to-market LNG production solutions is growing. Energy security concerns across Europe and Asia have intensified interest in alternative LNG supply sources, boosting the commercial case for FLNG deployments. Seatrium, formed through the merger of Sembcorp Marine and Keppel Offshore & Marine, has positioned itself as a key player in the offshore energy conversion market. Securing a third Golar project would represent a significant contract win for the yard and underline its capabilities in high-complexity LNG conversion work. The finalisation of the EPC contract terms is expected to follow the LOI, with further details on project scope, timeline, and the intended deployment location likely to emerge as negotiations progress.
