Jinko ESS and Taliva Energy Ink 400MWh Energy Storage Deal in Romania

By MGN EditorialJuly 2, 2026 at 06:00 AM

Jinko ESS, a subsidiary of JinkoSolar, has signed a 400MWh energy storage project portfolio agreement with Romania-based Taliva Energy, signalling continued expansion of large-scale clean energy infrastructure in Eastern Europe.

## Jinko ESS and Taliva Energy Sign 400MWh Energy Storage Portfolio Agreement Jinko ESS, the energy storage division of global solar manufacturer JinkoSolar Co., Ltd., has entered into a significant project portfolio agreement with Taliva Energy, a Romanian clean energy developer specialising in full-scope energy storage solutions and large-scale energy infrastructure, according to a PR Newswire release dated 1 July 2026. The deal, announced on the sidelines of industry engagements in Munich, covers a combined capacity of 400 megawatt-hours (MWh) of energy storage deployment across Romania. Taliva Energy focuses exclusively on the Romanian market, positioning the agreement as a cornerstone investment in the country's emerging grid-scale storage sector. ### Relevance to the Maritime and Port Energy Sector While the agreement is primarily a land-based energy infrastructure deal, developments of this scale carry increasing relevance for the maritime industry. Port authorities and terminal operators across Europe are under mounting pressure to decarbonise shore power supplies and integrate renewable energy sources into port operations. Large-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS) of the type covered by this agreement are increasingly being deployed at or near port facilities to stabilise grid connections, support cold-ironing infrastructure, and buffer intermittent renewable generation. Romania's Black Sea coastline hosts the Port of Constanta, one of Europe's largest and most strategically significant ports, serving as a critical gateway for grain, container, and bulk cargo flows between Europe and Asia. Expansion of reliable, clean energy infrastructure in the region could support future electrification initiatives at the port and along associated logistics corridors. ### Company Backgrounds Jinko ESS has rapidly grown its global footprint in utility-scale and commercial energy storage, leveraging JinkoSolar's established manufacturing and supply chain capabilities. Taliva Energy, as a focused regional developer, brings local regulatory expertise and project development capacity to the partnership. The 400MWh portfolio represents a substantial commitment to Romania's energy transition goals, which are aligned with broader European Union targets for renewable energy integration and grid resilience. Further project-level details, including specific site locations and commissioning timelines, had not been disclosed at the time of the announcement.
