Louisiana Voters Demand Transparency in Coastal Restoration

According to a new poll released by Restore the Mississippi River Delta, Louisiana voters are demanding more transparency in coastal restoration decisions. The survey found that there is strong opposition to canceling sediment diversions, which are a key component of the state's Coastal Master Plan. The poll revealed that 82% of Louisiana voters support the Coastal Master Plan, which outlines a comprehensive strategy for protecting and restoring the state's coastline. Voters also expressed strong opposition to canceling sediment diversions, with 72% saying they oppose such a move. 'This poll shows that Louisiana voters want their leaders to be transparent and accountable when it comes to coastal restoration decisions,' said Kimberly Reyher, coalition director of Restore the Mississippi River Delta. 'They understand the importance of the Coastal Master Plan and sediment diversions in protecting their communities and way of life.' The survey also found that 87% of voters believe it's important for the state to provide regular updates on the progress of coastal restoration projects. Additionally, 86% said they want to see more public input and engagement in the decision-making process. 'Coastal restoration is a critical issue for Louisiana, and voters want to make sure their voices are heard,' said Reyher. 'This poll sends a clear message to state leaders that they need to be more transparent and inclusive when it comes to these important decisions.'
