Maran Tankers Management Inc., the managing company of the Greek-flagged tanker MARAN HOMER (IMO No. 9761372), has reported an incident involving the vessel on March 14. According to the announcement, at approximately 04:35 local time (01:35 GMT), while the MARAN HOMER was sailing outside Russian territorial waters and awaiting instructions to enter the Caspian Port, an explosion occurred on board. The cause of the explosion is currently under investigation. The company stated that all 23 crew members are reported to be safe, with no injuries. Maran Tankers is working closely with the relevant authorities to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and ensure the continued safety of the crew. 'The safety and well-being of our crew is our top priority,' said a spokesperson for Maran Tankers Management. 'We are thankful that there were no injuries, and we are committed to supporting the ongoing investigation to understand what happened.' The MARAN HOMER is a 115,000 DWT crude oil tanker built in 2016. It is registered in Greece and managed by the Athens-based Maran Tankers Management.
