Oceania Cruises Celebrates Keel Laying for New Luxury Ship

Oceania Cruises has reached a major milestone in the construction of its next-generation Sonata Class vessel, Oceania Sonata, at the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy.
Oceania Cruises, the leading luxury cruise line focused on culinary and destination experiences, has celebrated the keel laying ceremony for its new ship Oceania Sonata at the Fincantieri shipyard in Marghera, Italy. The Sonata is the first of four new vessels in Oceania's next-generation Sonata Class.
'The keel laying of Oceania Sonata represents an important milestone in the development of our next class of ships,' said Howard Sherman, President and CEO of Oceania Cruises. 'This new generation of vessels will build upon our reputation for offering the finest cuisine at sea, immersive destination experiences, and the most tranquil and spacious accommodations in the luxury cruise segment.'
According to the press release, the Sonata Class ships will feature a number of design enhancements and innovations that will elevate the Oceania Cruises experience. This includes expanded staterooms, more suites, and enhanced public spaces. The ships will also incorporate the latest environmental technologies to reduce emissions and energy consumption.
Oceania Cruises is part of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd., one of the world's leading cruise companies. The new Sonata Class vessels will join Oceania's existing fleet of six ships, which range in size from 684 to 1,250 guests. The line is known for its focus on destination immersion, small-ship intimacy, and exceptional culinary offerings developed by renowned chef Jacques Pépin.
