Offshore Energy Sector Sees Wave of Contract Awards Across Drilling, Subsea and FLNG Segments

By MGN Editorial•October 29, 2026 at 12:00 PM

A cluster of significant offshore contract wins highlights sustained activity across the upstream energy services sector, with ADES, Baker Hughes and T7 Global all securing notable awards in recent days.

## Offshore Contract Activity Surges Across Drilling, Subsea and LNG Segments The offshore energy services sector has recorded a flurry of contract awards spanning jackup drilling, subsea production systems, floating LNG equipment and hook-up and commissioning work, underscoring continued operator confidence in upstream offshore investment. ### ADES Extends Angola Jackup Programme Saudi offshore drilling contractor ADES has bolstered its backlog by approximately $52 million following a one-year extension for the Shelf Drilling Tenacious jackup rig, operating offshore Angola. According to Splash247, an existing international oil company exercised an optional contract period, which will commence immediately upon expiry of the current term. The extension adds around SAR195 million to ADES's order book, reinforcing the company's growing footprint in African offshore markets. ### Baker Hughes Secures Eni Double and Golar FLNG Package US energy technology major Baker Hughes has announced three separate offshore contract wins in a single disclosure. The company confirmed a significant subsea production systems award from Italian energy major Eni, alongside a second Eni contract, and an equipment package for Golar LNG's fourth floating LNG (FLNG) unit, Splash247 reports. The Golar order is particularly noteworthy given the accelerating global interest in FLNG as an expedient solution for stranded and deepwater gas monetisation. Baker Hughes's ability to secure concurrent awards across subsea and FLNG segments reflects the breadth of demand currently facing the offshore equipment and technology supply chain. ### T7 Global Wins Three-Year Petronas-Eni JV Contract Malaysian offshore services provider T7 Global has secured a three-year hook-up and commissioning contract from Searah, the recently formed joint venture between Eni and Malaysia's national energy company Petronas. The contract was awarded to T7 Global's wholly owned subsidiary, Tanjung, according to Splash247. The win represents a meaningful endorsement of T7 Global's capabilities within the Malaysian offshore sector and signals that the Searah JV is moving forward with active field development work. ### Market Context The concentration of awards involving Eni — appearing across three of the four contract announcements — highlights the Italian major's aggressive offshore development agenda, spanning West Africa, Southeast Asia and deepwater subsea projects. For service and equipment providers, the current environment reflects a sustained upcycle in offshore spending, driven by energy security concerns, elevated oil and gas prices relative to recent historical averages, and operators' renewed appetite for long-cycle deepwater and FLNG projects. Collectively, these awards signal healthy near-term demand for drilling capacity, subsea infrastructure and offshore construction services across multiple geographies.
