German propulsion specialist Schottel secures contracts for Spanish hybrid tankers while service providers expand operations across North Sea, Mediterranean, and North African markets.
The offshore energy industry is experiencing a wave of activity as major operators and service providers secure new contracts and expand their operational reach across key regions including the North Sea, Mediterranean, and North Africa.
## Propulsion Systems and Equipment Orders
German propulsion specialist Schottel has been selected to deliver propulsion packages for two Spanish hybrid tankers, marking another significant order for the company in hybrid marine technology. The contract underscores growing demand for advanced propulsion solutions in the tanker sector as operators seek to reduce emissions and improve operational efficiency.
## Rig Services and Maintenance Expansion
MR Group's ModuSpec division has secured multiple shipyard-based rig intake and inspection projects supporting drillship and jack-up readiness across Europe and Africa. The contracts reflect continued activity in rig maintenance and preparation for offshore operations in these regions.
Meanwhile, Norway-headquartered Axess Group has expanded its asset integrity management agreement with Equinor to include additional scope of work in the Norwegian North Sea sector. The expansion of this long-standing partnership signals confidence in continued offshore development in Norwegian waters.
## Regional Collaboration and Efficiency Gains
Collaboration is also driving activity in offshore markets. ABL, part of Oslo-listed ABL Group, has partnered with Egypt's Petroleum Safety and Environmental Services Company (PetroSafe) to provide technical performance solutions across Egyptian onshore and offshore energy assets.
On the operational side, DeepOcean has demonstrated cost optimization by consolidating inspection and 3D scanning of subsea infrastructure into a single unified operation, reducing downtime and improving efficiency for offshore operators.
## Market Outlook
These developments reflect sustained activity in offshore energy despite market challenges. Equipment manufacturers, service providers, and regional specialists continue to win contracts and expand partnerships, indicating ongoing investment in North Sea operations, Mediterranean shipping, and North African energy assets.
