Quickway Transportation Files for Bankruptcy Amid Challenging Freight Market

By MGN EditorialFebruary 5, 2026 at 11:38 PM

Nashville-based trucking company Quickway Transportation and two affiliates have filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection as the freight industry faces headwinds.

In a sign of the challenges facing the freight transportation sector, Nashville-based Quickway Transportation and two of its affiliate companies have filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. According to FreightWaves, the companies cited 'ongoing operational and financial difficulties' as the reason for the bankruptcy filing. Quickway Transportation is a regional less-than-truckload (LTL) and truckload carrier that has operated in the Southeast U.S. for over 30 years. The company and its affiliates, Quickway Logistics and Quickway Brokerage, filed for bankruptcy in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Middle District of Tennessee. The bankruptcy filing comes amid a broader slowdown in the freight market. Trucking companies have been grappling with reduced shipping volumes, overcapacity, and rising costs. Just this week, major carrier Werner Enterprises reported worse-than-expected Q4 results, leading the company to restructure its one-way fleet. 'The freight market has been quite challenging over the past year, with reduced volumes, excess capacity, and pressure on rates,' said industry analyst Jack Porter. 'Smaller and mid-sized carriers like Quickway have been hit particularly hard, leading some to seek bankruptcy protection.' The Quickway bankruptcy underscores the need for transportation providers to maintain financial discipline and operational efficiency in the face of market headwinds. As the industry continues to navigate these turbulent times, more consolidation and restructuring may be on the horizon.
