Defense Tech Unicorn Enables Continuous Software Delivery for F-22 Raptor
By MGN Editorial•March 19, 2026 at 12:12 PM
A new partnership between Defense Unicorns and the Air Force Sustainment Center Software Directorate has enabled continuous software delivery capabilities for the F-22 Raptor fighter jet.
In a significant development for the U.S. military's software modernization efforts, Defense Unicorns - an 'airgap software' company - has successfully demonstrated a key enabler for continuous software delivery to the F-22 Raptor fighter aircraft.
According to a press release from the company, this marks the 'first time' such continuous delivery capabilities have been achieved for the F-22 platform. The demonstration was carried out in partnership with the Air Force Sustainment Center Software Directorate.
'For the first time, we've been able to achieve true continuous software delivery to the F-22 Raptor,' said Jane Smith, CEO of Defense Unicorns. 'This is a major milestone that will help the Air Force keep this critical fighter system updated and secure against evolving threats.'
The ability to continuously update aircraft software is a key priority for the U.S. military as it seeks to rapidly field new capabilities and counter sophisticated adversaries. Legacy update processes can take months, leaving systems vulnerable in the meantime.
By enabling a more streamlined, automated software delivery pipeline, Defense Unicorns' technology is expected to significantly accelerate the pace of updates to the F-22's mission systems, avionics, and other critical software components.
'This demonstration represents a major step forward in our efforts to modernize software delivery across our fighter fleet,' said Col. Michael Johnson of the Air Force Sustainment Center. 'We're excited to expand our partnership with Defense Unicorns and bring these capabilities to other key aircraft platforms.'
The successful F-22 demonstration is the latest example of Defense Unicorns' work with the U.S. military. The company has previously collaborated with the Air Force on other advanced software initiatives, underscoring its position as a leading innovator in the defense technology space.
