Italy Launches Small-Scale LNG Operations at Offshore Terminal

In a significant development for Italy's energy landscape, the country's floating regasification terminal operator OLT Offshore LNG Toscana, a subsidiary of Snam, has launched commercial small-scale liquefied natural gas (LNG) (SSLNG) activities at its floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) moored off the coast of Livorno. According to Offshore Energy, this milestone marks the start of a new chapter for Italy's LNG market, as the FSRU facility now offers SSLNG services in addition to its core regasification operations. The FSRU has successfully completed its first small-scale LNG cargo transfer, paving the way for increased flexibility and diversification of LNG supply options for the country. 'The start of small-scale LNG activities at the OLT FSRU is an important step forward in the development of the Italian LNG market,' said an OLT spokesperson.
