## Historic Milestone in Marine Decarbonization
Shanghai Electric has completed what it describes as the first large-scale biomethanol bunkering operation for international shipping, refueling the container vessel CMA CGM OSMIUM at Shanghai's Yangshan Port in March 2026.
The biometanol fuel originated from Shanghai Electric's Taonan project, representing a significant step in China's efforts to support global maritime decarbonization. The successful operation demonstrates the viability of scaling biomethanol production and distribution for deep-sea vessel operations.

The bunkering of the CMA CGM OSMIUM, operated by major container shipping line CMA CGM, underscores growing industry interest in alternative marine fuels.
